Mentoring

In this optional mentoring component, faculty members will provide individualised research and writing support to participants with the goal of publishing a peer-reviewed scientific article. Mentees will receive support over a 6-month period, either from January to June or from July to December. There will be a maximum of two application calls during the year.

Become a mentee

You can apply to become a mentee if you:

Are enrolled in at least the second year of your PhD in an African university;

Major in transport or urban studies;

Have completed the taught component of this course and had an average score of 80 percent and above across all the quizzes;

Have a basic draft or a well-developed idea for an academic paper.

Become a mentor

We are constantly looking to expand our pool of mentors. You can apply to become a mentor if you:

Have a Ph.D. in urban studies, transport/mobility studies, development, geography, sociology or related disciplines;

Are affiliated with a university in Africa or conduct research primarily in African contexts;

Have experience supervising students at the Ph.D. level;

Are willing to contribute to the development of African scholars on a voluntary basis.
